Nepean Hospital

At the Nepean Hospital, the Tiny Star Beads program offers babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit little rewards for their medical procedures and milestones in the form of unique beads.

A weekly bead meeting is held in the quiet room just outside the Nepean Hospital NICU which is an opportunity to collect any beads your baby has earned. If you are unable to attend the meeting, you can ask your nurse or contact the NICU social worker Michelle Davis to make alternative arrangements.

Once your baby has been registered for the Tiny Little Star Beads program, you will be given a starter string that includes your child’s name, a Little Star bead and a Diagnosis bead. The beads, when strung together, help to tell the story of each baby’s personal medical journey.

The string of beads will become a very special memento for the babies, and their families, and a symbol of pride and courage for all the challenges that they have overcome.
