Day care centre and respite services for sick kids opens in Fyshwick

The Stella Bella Foundation runs the Little Star Beads Program to brighten the lives of sick children in hospitals and offers financial assistance for their families. Offering day care and respite service is another step to making a difference in the lives of seriously ill children and their families.

"This has been a long-term dream," Ms Tunks said of the children’s centre, which has 30 mainstream long day places which help fund the respite centre, with a paediatric nurse as part of its staff.

"If a family is not earning an income, which a lot of these parents aren't, we will fill the gap," she said.
